Broken Branches and Lichen

Art: Broken Branches and Lichen by Artist Deanne Flouton
Left-Right, Left-Right, tick tock, tick tock. The angle of the broken branches are suggestive of this, or of a pin-wheel with a little stretch of the imagination.

In the original photograph the left branch was accidently cut off but was cloned in from another photo. The effect of clockwise movement is detected in this image which illustrates the typical lichen (most likely Parmelia sulcata) which thrives in North America and is found growing on trees and rocks everywhere.

Nature is a large canvas from which to derive constant inspiration.
