This is my entry for the 6th Annual Ripped Off Show at EBSQ, where artists pair up with eachother and create their own take on the other artists artwork. My painting partner this year is the delightful Miriam Bos, and the artworks of hers I chose to use are Alleria, Between the Leaves, and Oriental Fairy. Green Girl is mostly based on a combination of the first two, with a few elements thrown in from Oriental.
I chose Alleria because I enjoyed the mysterious feel of the original piece and the pose. I chose Between the Leaves because it is one of my favorite works of Miriams, and perhaps this Green Girl might be what the original fairy lurking in the shadows might look like in full body! I also used the oak leaf theme from that piece. Finally, Oriental Fairy simply appeals to me in its prettiness. I decided to use the same arm and leg ribbons idea and have her sit upon tree branches. Plus the Green Girls face is rather oriental, too
Miriams original works were done in acrylics and digital media, and my painting is done in watercolor and colored pencil glazes.
