WELDER'S ROD-CHOKER/NECKLACE

Art: WELDER'S ROD-CHOKER/NECKLACE by Artist Sherry Key
Everything came out of the trash except the recycled glass cylinder bead. This was bits and pieces that they thought was too small and they weren't going to recycle them. I used welders aluminum rod and cold forged (hammered) the choker/necklace parts. You can't use heat to forge a welders rod because it will just melt and drop off.

Then I took a piece of electrical wire and used a knife to strip away the plastic to expose the copper. I heat forged the copper and it has to be annealed just right to get the bright pinks that are beaded on the end of the copper wire. Then I did some nice little wire work to incorporate my bead with the copper. I found this piece of rubber tubing on the floor and used it to cover part of my necklace. While the glass cylinder bead was not trash it was recycled glass with all the bubbles and imperfections that came with it.

I think all of this combined gives the necklace a nice, edgy look.
