Art: Yellow Roses by Artist Paula M Parker
Since I live in NY, I decided to draw the Rose, which is the state flower of New York. This drawing was done using Rembrandt Pastels on Strathmore Pastel Paper. I chose to do yellow roses, instead of ones that we usually see, such as red, pink, or white roses, and I was surprised to learn that yellow roses were not discovered until the 18th century, when they were found growing naturally in the Middle East. Since the color yellow is associated with the sun, yellow roses represent sunny and cheerful feelings of happiness and joy, and they are often given as a symbol of friendship. I hope that this drawing also gives off a feeling of joy and happiness, and that it brightens someones day when they view it .
