One of two companion pieces I painted for a community art show at a
local gallery, the theme of which was 'Things We Love', with all the
submitted artwork to be sized at 5" x 5". I made my own painting
supports for this using old wood found in my garage, which I cut to size
and prepared in my usual manner. When deciding upon my chosen subject
matter, and thinking about 'what I love', I just had to fall back again
into one of my most favourite themes of all, that being anthropomorphic
celestial beings -- in this case, specifically the Sun, and the Moon. I
couldn't help myself! I very much love the sun and the moon, so it was
appropriate -- plus painting my happy suns and moons always cheers me
up.
