Four of Arrows from the Morbidly Adorable Tarot

Art: Four of Arrows from the Morbidly Adorable Tarot by Artist Misty Monster
Meet the Four of Arrows from the Morbidly Adorable Tarot! The Four of Arrows is about meditation and rest. Maybe you’ve had a rough go or just need some down time before you move on to your next project.

I based this card on Gustav Klimt’s famous painting “Danae.” I always loved the beautiful way his subject curls up in the painting. The yellow lines on the hummingbird girl are reminiscent of the mending of broken bowls with gold in kinsukuroi (kintsugi) pottery, or “golden repair.” It is the Japanese philosophy that something is more beautiful for having been broken. It shows your history. I placed her in a nest because I think of a nest as a comforting and nurturing place to protect the fragile, and ever-so-full-of-potential, egg. This darling goes to her nest for a little beautiful repair of her own. You may see the dozens of octopus arms as supporting the nest or encroaching upon it depending on your view. I’m sure based on the ongoing theme of the octopus in my art, you can probably guess my bias. I’ll leave the rest of the meaning for you to contemplate!
