Golden specks of sunlight shimmer across the water as the sun slowly goes down in Key West. Sailors are enjoying the evening breeze and seagulls are looking for their last snack of the day. This was a commissioned painting that was created by blending together three different photos. I decided to paint just a hint of the sunset in order to keep the focus on the boats and the pier. Sometimes, it's not just the sunset itself that is so beautiful to look at; it's that glorious golden light that illuminates everything that it touches. Done with acrylics on stretched canvas in December 2008.
