I love the contrast formed between plants in the wood decaying away and plants and fungus growing. I'm always looking for dramatic lighting and texture when I look for subjects to paint. I love color, brilliant color, subtle color. I love trying to capture color in all its glory. I liked the reoccuring semi-circular elements in this composition. It was both difficult and fun to try to capture it all on canvas.
