Started in May of 2005, it's done in watercolour on arches 140 lb cp paper taped to a masonite board. (It's still taped to the board, by the way!)
I started this painting because I'd wanted to paint a floral macro. It was, then, the biggest painting I'd attempted. It still holds that record, actually. I lost interest in it, I guess, because of the tedium of painting in nothing but orange. (Imagine rolling eyes here please.) Right now, if I went back to it, I don't think I could duplicate the colours to fit in nicely. It might very well end up as a much smaller painting, cropped down to include only some painted areas.
And one day, I may just start another one of these dahlia macro paintings. In the meantime, it faces in to the wall in the unfinished pile.
