A strawberry blonde fairy dressed in lavender is conversing with her favorite friends—bugs! While a lot of people find bugs scary, this fairy loves them and respects their place in nature. This painting was done in my usual 3-step method; first I paint it completely with watercolor, then outline the general shapes with brown ink and a crow quill pen, and last I refine shapes and put in color sublties with colored pencil. I wanted to show bugs as interesting, colorful creatures which are not as scary as we think they are! I think most beetles are fascinating, even cockroaches--so this fairy girl is also fascinated with her little friends.
