Frida Kahlo: When I Dream

Art: Frida Kahlo: When I Dream by Artist Alma Lee
When I Dream

When I dream
I dream of love
awakened,
 the nightmares come

I live my life
as I must
amid the blows
and angry gusts

I lend my voice
to the dirty drone
But when I sing
I sing alone

When I dream
my soul is free
my life is more
than I now see...

I have long been puzzled by and yet admired Frida Kahlo. She seems to have been born in a tempest, tossed and wounded she carried on, determined to have a life. She was a rare and balanced mixture of exuberant joy, and a quiet strength. She appears to have mastered the art of the broken heart and remained open, vulnerable to love. That is all that one can ask of God and life.

This Art work was created in CS 6, using several standard and a few created digital brushes.
