This is one of my latest pieces. After looking at artist Cecily Brown's creation I became particularly inspired by her ability to hide the naked human form in plain view - I likend her work to those early 90's digital images where you had to relax your eyes and stare at this abstract hodge-podge for what seemed like forever and when you were just about to give up, out pops a buffalo....
This inspiration gave birth to the artistic love child I dub a whole new direction down my creative path. The three figures subtly inhabit their surroundings. I chose to paint them so that they are visible, yet not overbearing (unlike brown who almost completely abstracts the figures leaving glimses of intertwined body parts and flesh.) For a while I was dealing just with color and texture as illustrated in paintings such as "Babylon" and "Into the Deep". I felt it was time to offer a different dimension.
