Attempting to create a piece without any preconception yielded "Lava". I have been told I am often too preoccupied by the final product and less concerned with the process, thus handycapping my work from achieving it's full potential as soon as the beginning - during conception. So, with "Lava" I placed the broad side of the charcoal to the paper and began to move. It became like some sort of artistic teenage ougi board game; the charcoal a posessed oracle gliding across the paper with minimal assistance from me. It was a kinetic and meditative process to say the least. The title originated from the feeling I had when gazing at the final product.
