This week's theme: The Usual

There are things and places in this world that aren't what we consider usual. In reality, much of what we consider unusual isn't out of the ordinary. If we pause long enough to take in what's around us, if we allow ourselves to focus on the thoughts and images that are always moving through our mind, it will become obvious that "usual" is nothing but a thin veneer.

My daydreams don't always make sense. Sometimes, the cast of characters float in and out of my head on their own accord.

This little clown took center stage one day while I was staring into the clouds. Shortly thereafter, an army of balloon animals charged into the scene. Finally, Napoleon Bonaparte drifted in the picture on his noble steed, perhaps by order of the ringmaster.

This piece is a hand colored copper plate etching. An edition of 13 were created.
