duct tape travel journal

- by Elizabeth Metz

This week's theme: The Artist's Book

The written word. Once only available to the few, these compilations were valued as objects as much as for content. In the 21st century, the production of books and paper has become cheap and easy. Though to many, they are treasures still. There are artists that honor and explore this fascination with books in their art. Whether through fabrication, alteration, or a combination of these, the artist-made book and its pages are a unique and beautiful form of expression.

The wrap cover secures with a velcro-and-domino closure, and the inside pages are thick watercolor paper to accomodate any media. Spine stitching is exposed to add character to the journal, while allowing for inclusions throughout its life.
