This is a pastel of one of my favourite places back home. As you climb into the Dublin Mountains you come upon one of the oldest bogs in the country, it reaches for miles and miles and seems to bridge the tips of the mountains in a vast plateau. Purple heather for as far as the eye can see covers the black bog like velvet. The setting has been used for many movies, Braveheart, Excalibur to name just a couple. The stormy sky leans over you and the wind in your ears can be deafening. It is told that if you wander off the path you may be lost, swallowed up by a big gaping black hole that some say leads to the underworld.
