I have started doing a series of patron saints. This, the first, is of Saint Patrick the patron saint of Ireland. This will be followed by the patrons of England (St.George), Scotland (St Andrew) and Wales (St David). Two art forms that have always fascinated me are Russian icons of religious figures and the painted pub signs that hang outside British pubs combining pictures with text. This picture owes something to each of these forms. The canvas is framed with a custom painted wood frame.
