"Without the mask where will you hide, can't find yourself, lost in your lies"
-Everybody's Fool by Evanessence
I had these lyrics in my head while I created "Fool". Despite the angry and jaded undertones I was feeling while painting, I wanted my little fool to seem joyous and colorful. I suppose that at the time I tried to fool myself about how I was feeling. I wanted to mask my own feelings and inspirations for this painting as if once the paint hit the canvas, my troubles would just dissappear. After all, isn't that what we do everyday? How often do we let ourselves be vulnerable and naked to the world with our souls revealed for others to judge? Or maybe the judgement all too often comes from ourselves.
