My name is Kristine Ashcraft (formerly "Willinger"). I am a self-representing artist originally from Eugene, Oregon. Without formal art training I gave up hope of ever getting my creations out into the world, but I put my frustrations aside and after about 5 years of artist's block, I started painting again in 2002. As of 2003, I began selling my works through online auction and have paintings in private collections all over the US and abroad.
"Art washes from the soul
the dust of everyday life."
-Pablo Picasso
I am always experimenting with different media and have played with watercolors, oils, colored pencil, wood, metal, glass, wire, clay, and digital photographs. However, my art of choice is acrylic on canvas. I love deep, vibrant color and I am definitely a metallic paint junkie and highlight most of my work with it.
"Only when he no longer knows
what he is doing does the painter do good things."
-Edgar Degas
Describing my art is not an easy task for me. It is purely emotionally driven and unplanned for the most part. Basically, I take my inspirations, my dreams, my fears, and life experiences and create a emotional abstract piece that is unique and stirs up different feelings in everyone who sees it. It is not my goal for everyone to "get" what I am trying to say with my art (especially since I don't always know) but that the piece they see or choose to keep means something special to them.
"Every artist dips his brush in
his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures."
Henry Ward Beecher (1813 - 1887)
