Gaea Weeps

16 by 20 acrylic on stretched canvas

Gaea was best known as "mother earth" in Greek and Roman mythology. She was also considered the mother of the seas, mountains, valleys, and all other earthly features.

This painting represents how she must feel about the way we are treating this planet and how she fears that she may not be able to heal. Mankind has caused so much devastation. We pollute the land, water, and air - destroy rainforests - push animals to the point of extinction... with little thought to the world we are leaving for future generations.

Our survival is linked to hers.

I used two main colors for this painting. Blue represents Life. Red represents the wounds Gaea endures.
