Art: Morrigan by Artist Valerie Meijer
The story of Morrigan, the supreme war goddess is a very interesting one. She is Queen of phantoms and demons, shape-shifter. She often takes the shape of a raven or carrion crow. She is a triple goddess in Ireland, consisting of Babd, the mother aspect , associated with the cauldron, crows and ravens and of life, wisdom, inspiration and enlightenment. The second aspect is Macha, the Protectress in war as in peace, goddess of war and death. Cunning, sheer physical force, sexuality, fertility, dominance over men. And the third aspect, Nemain- Celtic Goddess of panic and war.
