As a child I was a stamp collector. I still tear off and keep used stamps from letters. I also do card art; this bag has used stamps attached to it. I love the mystery of where the stamps have been, what kind of messages were inside the letters or postcards or packages that were sent with them. Stamps on this piece are from nicaragua, malaysia, south africa, nippon, guinée, netherlands, spain and chechoslovakia. I used paint, whiteout and ink directly on the bag. In the past I have also done a series of canvas paintings dealing with the mail/stamps/letters theme. Keep an eye out in the near future...I think these are making a come back in my work.
