This is a print of a color photograph, taken on film and slightly adjusted digitally, of the elevated train that roars through the campus of Illinois Institute of Technology in the heart of Chicago. The train thunders into the corrugated metal sleeve and vanishes. Coming from the peace of remote Texas, where trains travel close to the ground, much as long winding rattlesnakes, this train streaking ovehead reminded me of something out of Bladerunner. My camera shook. I struggled to catch an image of the blurring train a moment before it disappeared.
