This painting in thick oil applied with a palette knife depicts a colorful female nude in repose. Entitled "Sweet Jane", it seems to embody the song it is named after....
This piece was yet another "break through" moment for me. It all just clicked. Came together. I am truly fond of it....
It seems to be different from my other palette knife creations. I started by squeezing a tube of prussian blue straight onto the canvas, essentially drawing certain aspects of the nude with the tube of paint pressed firmly to the canvas. I did this with a tube of viridian as well (see the first detail image, the stark bold line of green was the tube of viridian pressed to the canvas surface and swiped down) Then I went to work with the knife, utilizing lighter colors as I went. So this piece went from dark to light.
