Created entirely by prodding bits of wool fibre through a piece of felt with a barbed needle i.e. needle felting! I'm afraid that blood was included at times when my fingers got too close to the needle, but that's one of the joys of being a needle felter!
This is part of a new direction for me, which I am enjoying immensely. Being led by the fibres, rather than the subject matter, is an amazing journey.
Here I am again using the colours that I am drawn to - pinks, purples, blues - and the subject matter than greets me everyday, the Scottish lowlands.
Welcome to my joyful world!
N.B. This piece was chosen as my entry into the Think Pink Breast Cancer Show. Breast Cancer research is close to my heart as my maternal grandmother suffered the humiliation of a double mastectomy late in her life - something that I brushed off in an attempt to get her to see what was more important, that she had survived cancer and was alive. It's only now that I realise just how traumatic losing part of herself was and how much she needed the hugs I offered.
