This piece WAS actually "Just A Daydream" for the last few years as I was a bit hesitant to try my hand at welding. So approximately 3 months of welding practice and TONS of scrap metal I was able to start working on this particular piece. I now have a whole new respect for metal workers and welders!
My intention and inspiration for this piece was to have a strong "industrial feel" meet up with a "fragile" yet sophisticated "modern flare".
The industrial frame was welded from four pieces of steel, which now looks and feels like one solid frame. The bottom layer is aluminum with a hand swirl finish and polish.
Hand cut glass "floats" two inches over the swirled aluminum making this piece quite unique from any angle. Tucked away and hidden in the edges of yet another layer of aluminum is the lighting, which was added to this piece to give off a romantic, subtle glow just as I had imagined in "my daydream."
This piece shines beautifully in any light source and screams out for people to take a closer look at the many layered dimensions as they pass by. All photos were taken with the sculpture lights off.
