
The spare lines and rick warm colors of Martin Devine's Tuscan Field #1 inspired the style, composition and colors of my "ripped off" piece.
I echoed Martin's composition, employed my own version of his pen work and instead of the earthy tones in the Tuscan landscape, deliberately chose the jarring, artificial colors of many post-war homes in Pittsburgh, PA.
In that light, my piece is a bitterly ironic or sardonic parody of my own surroundings compared to that presented in Martin's spare yet sensual painted enviornment.
