Art: Surreptitious Rhinoceros by Artist Jacqueline Swann
I would like to introduce you to a very rare, little known species of rhinoceros called the "Surreptious Rhinoceros". This particular rhinoceros is different from all of the other species because it has some very unique and individual features that set it apart. These features have never been observed in either of the typical African or Asian varieties. First of all, it can be found in almost any environment, anywhere in the world (albeit, very rarely seen). Secondly, it has the very interesting and uncommon ability to change its size and colouration to match and blend in with its surroundings. This ability to camouflage itself has led to its ability to keep sightings of this rare animal to an absolute minimum. My encounter with this stealthy beast happened when I was preparing a canvas for the EBSQ "Bonsai" exhibition. After I had prepared my background, I left my studio momentarily, only to return and find that this crafty little animal had infiltrated my canvas. It did such a magnificent job of camouflaging itself that I almost missed it. I literally ran and grabbed my camera to photograph and document this rare sighting. After some checking I found that there have been no other documented sightings of this artful little beast. So keep your eyes open, you never know when you will be lucky enough to find one lurking around your very own habitat.
