The Tradition of the Pineapple

So beloved was this fruit, that on many Southern plantations it was carved on the door as a symbol of hospitality. In fact, the first fruits grown in an English nobleman's home were lent out to grace the tables of friends and neighbors.Today the pineapple motif continues to be celebrated in architecture and design. It is a recognized symbol of friendship and hospitality. Received as a housewarming gift, or given as a token of appreciation to a friend, the symbol of the pineapple continues to grace your home and that of a dear friend.

Is the pineapple really just ordinary?
