This piece forms one of a series of highly textured abstract landscapes I have been working on. It was worked using a palette knife and impasto and sgraffito techniques. Although I have not used orange direct from a tube, orange has been created by applying red onto a yellow base and working in and removing layers.
It is the work of Mark Rothko which has inspired this particular piece, with its horizontal bands of colour sweeping across the canvas.
