Orange. Bright, citrus-y, refreshing and fruity. It is hard to believe that such a lively colour has so often been shunned, called difficult to work with and frequently considered loud and inappropriate. It hardly seems fair. Well, we're going to change all of that. We are going to celebrate Orange in all it's vibrant, juicy glory. Revel in Orange by creating orange art. Make Orange the focus of your art. Whether you colour the subject of your piece Orange or create an abstract vision in Oranges, the dominant colour of your work should be Orange. Vivid, exciting Orange.
Please avoid the muddy, burnt orange that was so often the companion of harvest gold and avocado green. Retro may be hot, but let's leave that part of history to history. Try not to veer off towards the neon orange of tragic 80's fashion. There is no need to revisit that bit of the past, either. Think of the liquid translucence of Orange Crush, the slick sheen of Orange Jello and pay long over due homage to playful, spirited, fabulous Orange.
A statement detailing the materials, process, and the impetus that went into the creation of each piece entered is required. If a piece contains fine detail or is 3 dimensional, detail shots are strongly encouraged.
