The flowers of Hawaii have to be some of the most beautiful flowers in the world. These two proteas remind me of extraterrestrial husband and wife. The way I have painted them here, the flowers appear a bit surreal and a bit psychadelic. Protea flowers (pronounced pro-tee-ah) can be found in Hawaii & Australia and are often thought of as pin-cushion flowers because of the pin formations. I painted this set of flowers during my 6 month stay in Hawaii this past winter.
