
What an interesting and challenging theme for a contest.
I found this moss closeup surprisingly hard to photograph.
So many little spiky things, so hard to get them all in focus.
I also discovered that it's hard to make moss appealing visually, at least in a closeup. There's just not much going on. I eventually realized that the key is to really use the background too.
In this case, I needed to really darken the background, in order to set off and contrast the moss. I also really boosted the green, because moss just isn't all that saturated with color.
