These flies spent a nice sunny afternoon mating on the outside wall of our house. They didn't seem to mind when I snuck up on them to take this shot with my macro lens. I use a Canon T70 with a Kiron 105mm macro lens. I really enjoy getting the juicy details when I'm shooting in nature, whether its insects or botanicals. This particular image was brought into Photoshop, then inverted. I used the burn tool to enhance the dark areas on the flies and the lines in the wall. I like how the effects resemble an x-ray.
