Go out for recess –at night! Try moon viewing.
Once I saw a field of Queen Anne’s Lace shining with the moon’s secondhand light from the sun. The moonbeams shone on one particular blossom stretching its neck to the sky. The light seems mystical, shrouding everything into blurred shadows. I tried to capture this feeling by painting cloth with purples and blacks. I positioned the moon first with Delta pearl, brushed in purple sky with Setacolor, then poured a deeper purple and black down the cloth for the field. After this was dry, I hand painted dried flowers with pearl finish, then pressed them onto the background. I added a little more pearl finish to the main focus. I added grasses in black marker and acrylics. Then I poured more purple over the bottom portion to blur further. Then I added a 3D paper dragonfly to call even more attention to the focal point.
