Art: Leda and the Swan by Artist Erika Nelson

Had a conversation with the late W.B. Yeats about Leda and the Swan. I asked him what inspiring lines he can give me so I can finally do this piece. It is something I have prepared to do since early 90's. I've collected materials to do it and have been wanting to do a major piece. I believe the concept overwhelmed me so I haven't had the courage to just jump in.

Anyway, Yeats thankfully came through and gave me his precious lines to work from.
He said,
"...A sudden blow: the great wings beating still
Above the staggering girl, her thighs caressed
By the dark webs, her nape caught in his bill,
He holds her helpless breast upon his breast..."

Pictured in my mixed media piece is Leda appearing to have succumbed to the overpowering desire that Zeus aka the swan, had for her. The airy atmosphere is from euphoric energy of the moment.
