
They say the eyes are the windows to the soul,
and my daughter, my photographic muse. I definetly think this portrait of her taken while working on a study in lighting and specifically lighting the eyes exemplifies this.
I love the way her eyes are lit in this photograph, your eyes are immediately drawn to them and are held in her gaze... This photograph was made outdoors using only the available light and a Canon EOS Digital SLR with a focal length of 75mm at f/4 - 1/60 sec. I stood on a ladder to get above her for the shot (if you look closely in her eyes you can see me on the ladder!) and the soft tree filtered light came from the right. The photograph was originally shot in color, then converted to b&w using photoshop and the file size reduced for the show. No other modifications were made.
