Art: American Demon Trinity of Fear Sold by Artist Phillip A. Hunt
The found material was from our last huricane. The tin riped off the roof of the building next door. the wood was in the trash. The little title piece is an American flag plaque made in China that was floating in the backwash. This work is about the 3 most hated groups in America. The Jews, the Blacks and the Gays. With out these groups the major media would have to shut down. I excluded RC's, in today's America they are only minor demons. The tin was bent like a triptych, so that inspired me. This work is a statement:: Art and Culture (and Religion) are driven from the marginal places. The words in this work were inspired by two sources: 1. The ancient graffiti you find written all over any painted surface commenting and linking up : 2. The text on icons which illuminate the meaning. Most of the words I used are stereo-types gleaned from the internet . If you type in Jew and pronographer in a search engine there will be a lot of hits...and so on. The words also form interesting patterns.
