This piece is purely about color. It is extremely vibrant. There is a startling contrast between the cool and warm shades in this piece; these shades melt together almost imperceptibly. I was motivated to create it after a day of hand-dyeing fabrics for the surface design class that I teach. I was thinking "if only the colors in my paintings could turn out so brilliant". It inspired the idea to try some works on paper, and this painting and many others resulted.
