This plein-air painting was done on the east coast of Florida, near Cape Canaveral. The dunes were shifting, the sky went dark, the sea went black, and we got out of there!
I believe that the weather contributed to me making the shapes jagged. The wind was blowing the sand sideways, changing their shapes, which I portrayed with diagonals in the piece. The jagged bushes in the left quarter of the painting were also due to the strong winds of the storm.
This piece was done with oil crayons, and there's a bit of sand in there as well.
