Art: Passage by Artist Shawn Marie Hardy
This piece was done after I watched an episode of the Twilight Zone - the one where the man can stop time and make everyone stop. He can go about his business while everyone is frozen in time, and when he's ready, the man can click his watch and everyone resumes doing their business, unknowingly. But then, at one point he freezes everyone in place and his watch breaks so he is doomed to spend the rest of his life alone.

"Passage" is about lonelieness. I created it during a time when I was feeling very alone in my world. I didn't really give much thought to why I made a curtain, but I see it now as a veil of sorts, shielding me from the chilling loneliness that lay beyond.

I have done several of these scenes with curtains in the foreground and a foreboding place in the distance. They are usually very gray and dismal and cold. Perfect for this month's One Word Concept: Gray show.
