Art: Gitchee Gummi Coral Ice by Artist Stephanie M. Daigle
With the constant splash of sea spray hitting the giant basalt boulders lying on the shores of Gitchee Gummi, you never know what you will find when wandering in winter.

Gitchee Gummi is the Ojibwe word meaning "big water". Most folks in the world know this body of water as the magnificent Lake Superior, a northern inland sea. It stands to reason that on the largest freshwater body of water in the world, you would find such wonders and those of us lucky enough to live here never tire of the changes in the landscape the 4 seasons bring

The coral looking ice sculpture created by nature is actually a small sprig of grass that has been repeatedly splashed by the sea spray.
