By the 1950s,TV sets were commonplace in American livingrooms. A host of related accessories were offered to enhance the user experience. TV Lamps were one such accessory. They simply sat on top of the TV set to provide low level, indirect lighting for the darkened livingroom.
I have painted one of the more popular ceramic models featuring a charming mother cat and her kitten. The light emanates from the back of the cats, as well as through their glowing eyes!
