Art: Digging After Dark by Artist Carol Thompson

"The clamming experience could not be complete until you have been out digging after dark."

Artist comment:  "Dark at the ocean is seldom pitch black, but often enough light lingers to create a blue glow.  Here I captured the spirit of the hearty clam hunters who enjoy the season when the lowest tides are after the sun is long gone.  I was intrigued by the glow of bright lanterns and their reflections on the wet sand.  I used soft pastel on Canson Mi-Teintes textured paper working from dark to light.  It was fun to show the figures with the glow of the lights and someone's dog sporting it's own red lamp."
