Self portraits, 'selfies,' make me a little uncomfortable. I'm usually the one behind the camera lens, not in front of it. I shot this image of me looking into a mirror. (Part of the curved frame of the mirror is visible at the bottom). The original assignment was to create a melancholy composition. Well, this is me looking rather depressed even though I'm normally much happier. :)
Not one to leave things as they are, I then played with the image, fusing two opposite images together to make 'Beside Myself' for EBSQ's 'Selfie' Exhibit.
I also took the image and re-created it as an etching for a set of dry point, hand-pulled prints that is featured in my portfolio. There are five prints to the 'Reflections of Me' set plus the artist's proof. It is shown below, along with the original black and white photograph.
