Rubber Ducky Searches For Home

Art: Rubber Ducky Searches For Home by Artist john christopher borrero
This piece was made specifically for the Rubber Ducky show.  :)  I wasn't at all sure that I would be able to extract a story from the Rubber Ducky world (although I'm a huge Ernie fan) that would resonate for me and translate into a piece.  But, something came.

What I decided to do was to create a fictional story... of a Rubber Ducky looking to belong... searching for a family and looking out into the world and deciding that what he MOST felt a belonging to were ducks.  Well, that wouldn't necessarily be an easy journey for our Ducky, and though I'm sure he will eventually find his way to being loved, this particular scene is one where the Momma Duck is not so thrilled to see a rubber version of her babies and is politely suggesting that Rubber Ducky swim with another family... and so that's what he's doing.  Perhaps he's on his way to a certain fictional street where he can accommodate himself in a loving bathtub and "be the one who makes bath time so much fun..."

Rubber Ducky Searches For Home.  6" x 6" mixed media on wood panel.  And lots of fun to make.  :)
