HIDDEN SEA MONSTER WAITING FOR PREY

Art: HIDDEN SEA MONSTER WAITING FOR PREY by Artist Theodora Demetriades
I chose to use undersea creatures and monsters from the Hadalpelagic Zone...the deep deep unseen. This zone of the ocean is in total darkness....19,700 to 36,100 feet in depth. Temperatures range down to almost freezing. The pressure of the water in these deep trenches and canyons is 8 TONS per square inch. This is an incredible world of darkness where nature has given the monsters that live in these depths a way of dealing withthe darkness, the creatures use chemicals within their own bodies to produce light. We can only guess at the type of life that exists at these increidble depths. So here is my interpretation of life at the very bottom of the oceans.
