Chain maille makes me think of female super heroes (super heroines?) and valkyries and warrior women of every ilk.  The maille in this necklace was very open, just crying out to me to add beads.  I answered with red jasper to complement the brass metal.  The stone is mostly a uniform rusty red colour, so doesn't make the necklace look too frilly.
