"Ring-a-round a rosie,
A pocket full of posies,
Ashes! Ashes!
We all fall down!"
Who doesn't remember chanting this lively nursery rhyme as a child? Or watching your own children or grandchildren giggling with delight as they all flopped down on the ground at the end?
This is my interpretation of this delightful childhood nursery rhyme and it is my submission to EBSQart's Nibblefest Art Contest for March 2013. The design features rings of roses/posies around central medallions with shining stars and bordered with spring green shoots and leaves.
This beautiful batik egg was lovingly created in the traditional method of Pysanky, using a batik wax and dye process on a real blown turkey egg. Sealed with a coat of archival, industrial grade UV resistant, crystal clear finish, it's finished size measures approximately 3 1/4" tall.
The process begins by meticulously drawing out the design in pencil before it goes through a process of waxing and dyeing. Etching technique is used to create the raised borders and create a subtle three dimensional effect.
As with all my eggs, yours will come with a FREE lacquered, dark wooden stand and digital COA (Certificate of Authenticity) that allows you to register your piece in an online art database.
This is my very first entry in the Nibblefest Art Contest, a JUST FOR FUN contest hosted by EBSQart members where the starting price is always
$0.99 and there is no reserve! Badge (graphic) awards go to the artist with the most individual bids (nibbles) and also to the artist with the highest selling price.
This themed art contest begins on the 20th of each month. Please be sure to search for NFAC to see more great entries, each starting at just $0.99. Thanks!
