The ground is a big canvas that changes with the seasons and weathers over time. The fleeting images at my feet are absorbed through my eyes and accumulate in my busy mind. I try and remember these little scenes for future reference - a dead moth, shimmery stones, mossy cracks, flower petals. This piece represents a combination of those snapshots that only my mind could see - several moments joined together in one image, mixed with my imagination.
This piece was done using artist quality paints & canvas. I started with layers of thin paint, laying the lighter colors down first. Over those I applied heavier layers of grays that I mixed using various greens and siennas. When those were completely dry I sanded over some of the darker areas to give this piece a weathered look. I have used a few photo images and have added some detail and shadows using charcoal. The image of the entire Gerber Daisy is painted on - the partial images are collaged on. I have also collaged bits from a Progresso soup can label and bits of paper from magazines. The gallery-wrapped canvas is 1-1/2" thick with edges painted so there is no need for framing. It's ready to hang. It is signed and will come with a signed Certificate of Authenticity if one is requested.
